Embracing a New Standard: Formovie Transitions to ISO Lumens

The use of a standard unit of measurement is crucial for ensuring consistency, accuracy, and clarity in communications across various fields like science, or international trade. For instance, the metric system, which includes units like meters and kilograms, is universally adopted by most countries and is based on decimal units that are easy to convert and understand. In contrast, the imperial system, used primarily in the United States, includes units like feet and pounds, which are less intuitive and involve more complex conversions.

Similarly, ANSI lumens, developed by the American National Standards Institute, and ISO lumens, based on International Organization for Standardization guidelines, both quantify projector light output. However, they use different methods to get to those numbers, leading to variations in the advertised brightness levels.

At Formovie, our commitment to providing the best possible experience for our customers is one of our main priorities. In line with this commitment, we are excited to announce a significant change in how we communicate the brightness of our projectors. Going forward, we will be using ISO lumens as the unit of measurement for brightness on all Formovie projectors. Please be advised that Formovie has now updated the White Brightness of the Formovie Theater 4K Projector from 2,800 Lumens down to 1,800 Lumens (ISO) and the Formovie P1 Projector from 800 Lumens down to 250 Lumens (ISO).

What You Need to Know About ISO Lumens

As mentioned above, ISO lumens is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization, offering a uniform and globally recognized standard for measuring projector brightness. This ensures consistency and reliability across different projector brands and models, making it easier for consumers to make informed decisions.

ISO lumens take into account various factors that affect perceived brightness, such as color accuracy and light source efficiency. This results in a more accurate representation of a projector’s performance, ensuring that what you see on the screen matches the specified brightness.

The Advantages of ISO Lumens When Choosing a Projector

There are a few benefits to using ISO lumens over CVIA or ANSI lumens, such as simplifying comparison and enhancing the overall buying experience. With a single, consistent unit of measurement, comparing different projectors becomes straightforward, making the decision-making process easier. Our aim is to make your buying experience smoother and more transparent by adopting ISO lumens.

A More Uniform Measurement

ISO lumens offer a single standard that accurately reflects a projector’s brightness, taking into account various influencing factors. This means you can rely on the specified lumens to provide a true measure of performance. With all projectors measured using the same standard, comparing different models becomes a seamless process that allows you to easily evaluate and select the projector that best fits your requirements, whether for home theater, office presentations, or educational use.

Allows Users to Make Informed Decisions

The clarity and consistency provided by the ISO lumens measurement ensure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. This transparency helps you choose a projector that delivers the right brightness and performance for your viewing environment, be it outdoors, in a well lit room, or a blacked out theater.

As We Make the Transition to ISO Lumens…

We understand that this transition may raise some questions or concerns, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Our customer service team is available to provide any additional information and assistance you may need during this period of change.
